Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday is about to go Gangnam Style.
After first breaking the news himself that Psy would be heading to Thailand next week, it’s been revealed the global superstar will be taking part in a large-scale event to commemorate King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday.
YG Entertainment shared on November 22 that the singer will depart next week to attend a large-scale event in Bangkok on November 28 to commemorate King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 85th birthday on December 5.
The event is expected to attracted some 25,000 and Psy will be performing his global hit song, Gangnam Style, and around four to five other songs.
Interest in Psy and Gangnam Style has previously been reflected in the demographical breakdown of the popularity ofGangnam Style’s music video by country with netizens from Thailand accounting for over 40 million of the music video’s view on YouTube and making Thailand second in terms of most views by country. As such, Psy was invited to the special event for fans and for Thailand’s king.
Psy will then head on to Hong Kong to perform at the 2012 MAMA on November 30.
